Development of a Strategic Plan for the Basketball Association (case study: university of Isfahan)

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop the strategic plan for the basketball association in university of Isfahan, Iran. The statistical population was experts. Thirty experts in the field of basketball association participated in this study through theoretical and snowballing sampling. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was used to collect and analyze the research data. The research instrument was an open questionnaire. Logical induction method was used to analyze the data in the quantitative part of the situation assessment and strategic action matrix and the qualitative matrix was used to analyze the data in the qualitative section. The findings show that the basketball association should follow five major programs including: generalizing basketball association in the community, developing sports teams in six age groups, launching a professional basketball league, participation of all provinces in competitions approved by the association in six age groups of men and women, as well as deepening and strengthening the principles of fair play and ethics through basketball. The strategic state of the basketball association based on the situation assessment matrix and strategic action was placed in the offensive position. In general, managers can use the extracted plans to set the major goals of the basketball association as the priorities of the association and provide the conditions for achieving the approved goals.
